As a therapist, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to begin understanding life circumstances that are creating concerns for you. I approach therapy as a collaborative process and understand the importance of trust and empathy in the therapeutic relationship. As a psychodynamic therapist, I prioritize our therapeutic relationship and create a space in which you feel safe to express anything that is on your mind. I emphasize close listening, especially to emotional pain, which tends to come out in the form of anxiety, depression, relationship conflicts, or, especially in children, emotional outbursts or problematic behaviors. Together we will work to understand symptoms on a deeper level. As a psychodynamic therapist who works across the lifespan, I am especially skilled at understanding concerns from a developmental perspective. This is helpful in bringing an understanding of how early life events, especially those which may have been painful or traumatic, are having an impact. Addressing sources of emotional pain tends to lead to a reduction or better management of symptoms and, over time, psychodynamic therapy can help heal deep emotional wounds, increase self-understanding, improve relationships, and help people of all ages grow into their true selves. I believe that it is within the context of a supportive relationship that we can best understand our concerns and find our strengths to cope and grow. Please contact me if you feel that I can be helpful to you.
